An Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) is designed for automatic storage and retrieval of goods. The system includes key components such as ASRS racking, which is a steel structure divided into horizontal storage compartments and stacked vertically in layers. It features cranes or Storage and Retrieval Machines (SRMs) that move both horizontally and vertically to store and retrieve items from the racks. The system is controlled by a computer with Warehouse Management System (WMS) software for inventory management and Warehouse Control System (WCS) software for precise machine operation.
